Writtle Minors 1

This was a really trying match for all concerned. The conditions were hideous, snow, wind, rain and freezing temperatures. The first goal came six minutes into the match; Will crossed the ball to Rob, who wasted no time in sinking it in the back of the net. This was immediately followed by a goal from Jonny on left wing. Despite the dreadful conditions the boys appeared undeterred and Rob made a lovely cross to Jonny, who struck the ball high into the goal with his left foot. Meadow conceded a goal a few minutes later, with a well placed, hard strike from Writtle. Unfortunately for Writtle, moments later, a lovely cross from Jonny into the goal area was deflected by a Writtle defender, over the keeper and into the back of their own net.

By half time the rain was lashing down and all the players were suffering in the freezing temperatures. But the boys battled on to score two more goals; one from Greg and then Jamie followed in a shot from Will. It was a good result to a demanding match.
