Wilvale Rangers v Meadow Youth Lions 1.00pm 18/03/12
This game was the first leg of a 2 legged semi-final against Wilvale.
The game started on a cold Mother’s day afternoon with both teams pressing to take an early advantage.
Both teams had early chances with Ross and Oliver both going close and Liam making a couple of good saves.
However it was Wilvale who took the advantage scoring from a break away goal to make it 1-0.
The Lions pressed on looking for an equaliser and this came following a good through ball from Ope which found Connor in the box who made room for himself and finished smartly into the right corner to make it 1-1.
Further chances fell to the Lions in a hard fought first half with Ross and Oliver both going close.
It was from a short goal kick that the Lions lost the advantage which Wlvale closed down and took advantage taking a 2-1 goal advantage in the 5th minute of added on time.
The second half followed the same pattern as the first half with the Lions unable to get good quality possession. Liam made a couple of saves to keep the Lions in the game and the Lions had a couple of chances of their own but it was not to be and the game finished 2-1 to Wilvale.
The Lions will be hoping to overturn this loss next week in the home leg
