Sun 11 May 2008  League
Braintree Town 1
Under 15's 3

Robert Bowman (1)

A hot sunny day sees Meadow against Braintree Town again. This time the score line ends reversed. The play is even in the first half. Sadly Matt is soon out with an ankle injury. Josh takes his place and is playing well. Kyle, Captain for the day, is keeping the team together and focused, he is making some great play. Braintree are on the attack but our defence – Dan, Kyle and Shane see them off, Ryan is working well in goal. Asa, Kurt and Rob are making moves on the Braintree goal but no score. Eventually Braintree get through and score 1-0. Kurt makes some good play and the ball goes to Rob who takes an excellent strike and scores 1-1. Kurt’s free kick goes over the goal. Josh makes a couple of strikes, but they too don’t hit home. Jack is sending the ball back to the strikers. Asa and Max are playing well and keeping up the pressure. Asa makes a run but the ball hits the side net.
Half Time 1-1
Braintree come out and make some attempts at our goal, which Ryan sees off with ease. Kurt makes an attack and runs through the players to score 1-2. Max takes a great shot which hits the post and sneaks across the goal but doesn’t go over the line. Asa is felled and the free kick is taken by Kurt who shoots an excellent goal 1-3. Lee is on for an injured Asa, and makes some good moves. Jack and Sam are playing well and keeping up the defence with Tom. Ryan dives to make a great save. Meadow are keeping the pressure on and still attacking Braintree’s goal, they are playing well in the second half. Kurt and Josh try further shots at goal but are unlucky. An excellent match with Meadow Youth playing some really good football. Well done Lads.

Would moving kids' football to a summer game help improve the development of young footballers?
Yes - better pitches mean a better chance to develop technique/skills
No - wouldn't make any real difference to development
Maybe - but I'd be worried about more injuries on firm pitches
